Rubber & Silicone Sealing Case Studies

Anlintech supplies custom rubber and silicone seals across demanding industries. The mini case studies below show how material choice, molding process, and quality controls solve real sealing problems. They complement our material specification library and FAQ.

Semiconductor — FFKM Chamber Seals

Challenge: A wafer-fabrication tool needed seals that survive aggressive plasma chemistries and 200 °C cycling without outgassing particles that ruin wafers.

Solution: FFKM molded to ISO Class cleanroom handling, with lot-level contamination screening and full material certification. Geometry matched to the existing groove.

Result: Particle counts stayed within spec through thousands of cycles; reorder by AS568 dash number with documented traceability.

Marine — Saltwater Shaft & Hatch Seals

Challenge: A marine equipment maker faced seal swelling and ozone cracking in continuous saltwater and UV exposure.

Solution: EPDM and specialty silicone compounds selected for weather and ozone resistance, molded as custom rubber seals to non-standard shaft diameters.

Result: Service life extended past the maintenance interval; corrosion-related callbacks dropped.

Oil & Gas — Sour-Service Valve Seals

Challenge: Downhole and surface valves required elastomers resisting H₂S, CO₂, and hydrocarbon swelling under pressure.

Solution: FKM and FFKM compounds qualified to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and API 6A, with hardness tuned against extrusion.

Result: Stable sealing in sour service; material certs satisfied end-client audit requirements.

Medical — USP Class VI Silicone Fluid Path

Challenge: A diagnostic device needed a fluid-path seal compatible with repeated sterilization and biocompatible contact.

Solution: Platinum-cured liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molded and finished to USP Class VI, with lot traceability.

Result: Passed biocompatibility and extractables testing; enabled device clearance.

Automotive — Coolant & Turbo Seals

Challenge: An EV and combustion component supplier needed seals resisting coolant, heat, and light oil mist at moderate cost.

Solution: EPDM for coolant routes and HNBR for oil-adjacent zones, molded as custom molded rubber parts with automated inspection.

Result: Consistent Cpk on critical dimensions across production lots.

Appliance / White Goods — Food-Safe Gaskets

Challenge: A major-appliance maker required odor-free, food-contact gaskets that stay flexible through thermal cycling.

Solution: FDA-grade silicone gaskets with controlled durometer and clean compound, molded flash-free.

Result: Met food-contact and appearance specs; integrated into the production line without rework.
