What to Include in Your RFQ

A complete RFQ (Request for Quotation) helps suppliers give you accurate pricing. Missing information means inaccurate quotes or long back-and-forth. Here’s what to prepare:

Required Documents

• 2D drawings (PDF): With dimensions, tolerances (e.g., ±0.05mm), surface finish notes
• 3D files (STEP / IGES): For complex geometries and volume calculation
• Material specification: Brand name (e.g., Viton® A, EPDM Buna N) or target performance properties
• Sample (optional but recommended): Physical sample for direct reference

Operating Conditions — Don’t Skip This

• Maximum and minimum operating temperature
• Contact media (oil type, fuel, acid, steam, water, etc.)
• Working pressure and speed (for dynamic seals)
• Certifications required (FDA, NSF, IATF, ASTM, etc.)
• Target market and applicable regulations
