FKM (commonly known by the brand name Viton®) is a fluoroelastomer prized for outstanding chemical, oil, and high-temperature resistance. Anlintech molds FKM/Viton® O-rings, seals, and custom parts for aerospace, oil & gas, semiconductor, and chemical-processing applications where failure is not an option. Start with our FKM vs Viton vs FPM explainer to clear up the naming.
FKM is defined by ASTM D1418 as a fluorinated hydrocarbon rubber. “Viton®” is Chemours’ trade name for FKM. Typical service runs from -20°C to +205°C (-4°F to +400°F), with excellent resistance to fuels, solvents, acids, and ozone.
FKM = the ASTM/ISO generic name. FPM = the older DIN/ISO designation for the same family. Viton® = a brand of FKM. They describe the same base polymer; compound grade and fluorine content (typically 66%+) determine final performance. See our full comparison.
We produce FKM O-rings to AS568, ISO 3601, and JIS B 2401 standards, plus fully custom cross-sections and diameters. Our O-ring material selection guide helps match compound to duty.
Standard 75 and 90 Shore A durometers cover most needs. FDA- and USP Class VI-grade FKM is available for regulated contact. For higher temperature or more aggressive media, ask about FFKM.
Viton® is a brand name for FKM; the materials are the same fluoroelastomer family. Specifying “FKM” is the generic, supplier-neutral way to call it out.
Continuous service is typically -20°C to +205°C. Short excursions higher are possible with the right compound.
Yes. FKM has excellent resistance to petroleum fuels, oils, and most solvents, which is why it is standard in automotive and aerospace fuel systems.
Yes. We mold custom FKM seals, gaskets, and profiles to drawing in addition to standard O-rings.
